Pollinators At Work
Video by Jennifer Pfaltz
Google AI tells us that “Bumblebees are large, fluffy, social bees of the genus Bombus known for their ability to pollinate various plants and crops even in cooler weather due to their heat-generating flight muscles. While males cannot sting , female bumblebees (queens and workers) can, though they are generally not aggressive and prefer to avoid conflict.”
It has indeed been cooler, but here they are doing their thing on some Turtlehead flowers, known to be a late season pollinator target.
Bees’ “thing” just happens to be crucial to life on earth, and remaining useful, powerful yet not agressive, social, and avoiding conflict can be a good model for us all.
Jennifer took this video in her front yard, but the church does have a pollinator garden on its grounds, “The EveThew Memorial Garden.” Eve was one social butterfly, gentle, loving, non-confrontational, yet powerful in her quiet way, and a polinator herself. She would love this video.
