A Summer Surprise and a Hope for Next Year

At the end of coffee hour, after our 2024 Easter Sunday service, Pastor Erick said to everyone ,”Please take an Easter lily. If they stay here, they will die.” Jen Pfaltz happily chose a lily and brought it home. She enjoyed the beauty of it for a few weeks and as it started to fade, she thought, “I’ll put it in the garden. It will likely not survive the winter and come back next year after being raised in a greenhouse, but we’ll see what happens.” Fast forward to this spring. Something started to grow. She wasn’t sure if it was a weed or not so she let it keep growing to see. As she watched it continue to sprout up she realized, “It’s the Easter lily! It’s coming back!” Resurrection!

She sent this picture showing the Easter Lily in full bloom. She added, “I purposely made sure the scraggly, dead looking plants to the left and behind were in the photo. Those are two of this year’s Easter Lilies. We’ll see what next year brings!”
