Light of Service: Our Culture is Beautiful

During Conversation Sunday on March 8th, we had the pleasure of hearing from Angaza Mwando about the incredible work being done by Our Culture is Beautiful. From their website: We envision a vibrant community of people who are committed to preserving and promoting the cultural, historical, intellectual and social movement traditions of people of color and other minorities throughout the Northwest Corner of Connecticut. We want to increase the awareness of racism and unfair and discriminatory practices by individuals and institutions. We want to promote fair treatment of all persons at all times.
Some of the work being done by Our Culture is Beautiful:
1. We train students to become leaders within their community.
2. We provide cultural diversity conversations using music with stories.
3. We offer free drumming sessions for students and adults every Thursday night at 6pm in Torrington.
4. Free summer activities from July to August 15th.
5. Language etiquette conversations and workshops.
You can support this important work by making a Light of Service contribution here.
