The “Loom Room” in Battell Chapel

Colebrook native and church member Alesia Maltz installed several of her weaving looms in one of our classroom spaces, initially to participate in a “maker space” —- and they are still there, along with another donated loom and a spinning wheel. Many “blankies”, scarves, hats, dolls and other woven and knitted items have since been sent to refugee children who have passed through the immigration process and are waiting to be reunited with their parents. At the same time many adults and some children have begun to learn the art of weaving as this is a learning space as well. We are delighted to have this special space in our facilities.
