A Glorious Bloom

Today’s Featured Picture is brought to you courtesy of Nancy Herzig, who captured the beauty of the towering Canna Lily gracing the front steps of the meetinghouse. A quick google search reveals the characteristics of this glorious flower:
canna lily (genus Canna).
Key Characteristics Visible:
- Foliage: Large, broad, paddle-shaped green leaves resembling banana leaves.
- Flowers: Bright, asymmetric, vibrant red blooms growing on upright stalks rising above the foliage.
Despite the common name “lily,” these are not true lilies; they belong to the order Zingiberales, making them closely related to gingers and bananas rather than typical garden lilies
