A Busy Kitchen
Thursday evening and the Ministry of Bead is hopping. At least ten volunteer bakers are busy making Bannock. To quote group leader Felix Graham-Jones, “Bannock are an ancient traditional Scots baked good, using wheat flour or a combination of oat and wheat flour, raised with baking powder (like Irish soda bread) and either cooked on a skillet or griddle or baked in an oven. So I think they will make a great topic for our new “collective experimentation” model – and the Burns night revelers will be very grateful if we can rustle some up to leave for their celebration of the Scottish national poet. Bannock gae’ great wi’ haggis, I’m told!).”
